Staff Officer Grade-1 at Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI)

Major Archie Acharya was commissioned in the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers in March 2009. She has done her Bachelors of Engineering in Electronics and Instrumentation and has done her Masters of Technology in Communication Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi.

The officer has performed various appointments and assignments. She has been posted at the Line of Control, RAPID Battalion as part of Strike Corps and Electronic Warfare Units and Formations. The officer has done specialist courses in Project Management and Information and Electronic Warfare Systems.

The officer is presently posted as the General Staff Officer Grade-1 at Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI). In this current appointment she manages ‘strategic communication aspects of perception management based on web platforms’.

The officer manages the web-portal of Grievance Cell for Indian Army along with spearheading the administration of the official Indian Army website. The officer has a proven history of increasing the number of visitors to 8.9 Crore in a span of 20 months. She has skillfully managed the complete cyber security of the website and its collaterals and has managed cloud servers for the website. She has deep insight into content development and she has ensured appropriate data to be hosted on the website.

The officer is managing social media strategies and analytics based on global inputs for Indian Army social media platforms. She has initiated diverse engagements with environment over Indian Army’s social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, instagram. She is a leading member of the team which has propelled Indian Army social media accounts (ADGPI on Facebook, Twitter) as the fastest and the largest among Governmental accounts.

The officer has also collated, compiled and designed the official Indian Army Coffee Table Book which has been globally acclaimed as an excellent exercise in perception management.

The officer has been awarded Vice Chief of The Army Staff Commendation Card.

The officer has keen interests in reading, writing, learning new technologies and software skills. The officer is a keen student of use of strategic communication wherein pictures, messages and videos can be effectively utilised in a coordinated manner to inform, influence and persuade large audience with an aim of mass manipulation of opinion.
