Advaita Kala
Novelist and Screenwriter
Advaita Kala is a best selling novelist and award winning screenwriter, most notably for the film Kahaani starring Vidya Balan and the film Anjaana Anjaani starring Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra.
Her debut novel Almost Single sold over a 100,000 copies in India and was called – “Bridget Jones in a Saree” by the Independent newspaper. Almost Single was published in the United States and Canada under the Bantam Discovery Program and was translated into French as well as Indian regional languages.
Recently she conceptualised and wrote a prime time fiction show for Star Plus called “Airlines “
Advaita is a commentator on prime time debates on news channels and is a regular contributor to national dailies and magazines. Presently she writes a column – Intersection for ibnlive.com and a gastronomy column for the Financial Express. Her column writing cover the areas of gender equality, society and politics.
She is the co-founder of the first Food for Thought Festival held in New Delhi in October 2015 – FFT is a platform to build regional harmony through the shared and diverse culinary heritage of South Asia and will showcase cuisine and speakers from the SAARC countries.
