Business Head – Delhi/NCR, Vodafone India Ltd
Apoorva Mehrotra is the Business Head –Delhi/NCR, Vodafone India, one of the Top 3 markets in India in terms of Revenues. Considered one of the high potential young leaders at Vodafone India, Apoorva has made the most of the fast track career opportunities in his 13 year stint at Vodafone India.
Prior to his new role with Delhi circle operations; from Feb-Dec 2014, Apoorva was the Business Head of Tamil Nadu which is also among the top 5 performing markets in India by revenues.
Apoorva began his career with Vodafone (then Hutch) in Jan ’02 as a Zonal Manager for SouthGujarat based at Surat. After cutting his teeth as a zonal manager into mobile telephony, he was moved in about 18 months to the Gujarat circle office in Ahmedabad to Head Sales Processes and Distribution, which provided him insights into mass distribution and sales incentive and policy making. Post this experience, in Jan 2005, Apoorva was elevated as Head of Sales for Gujarat and later to the post of Head of Sales and Marketing in Jan 2008.
After 18 months of Sales and Marketing exposure in Aug ‘ 09, he was moved to the corporate office in Mumbai to head a newly created post of Business Development Manager (BDM) assisting the Director Operations for West and South. This helped Apoorva widen his horizon by providing good exposure to large markets in West and South India.
After soaking in the experience of West and South markets as BDM, Apoorva was sent to turnaround a challenging and difficult market like Karnataka with effect from Mar’11 as Head of Sales & Marketing. After shouldering the responsibility for a year and being successful in reversing the trend of revenue market share loss, Apoorva was elevated to the position of Business Head of Karnataka. Vodafone Karnataka revenues in the past 3 years grew at over 16% CAGR making it one of the fastest growing markets in VIL. In Feb 2014, he was once again elevated to head operations for Tamil Nadu circle as Business Head.
Prior to his journey with Vodafone, Apoorva had successful tenure in sales operations with Usha International (SIEL Group) from 1996-2002 and TTK Sara Lee from 1994-1996 where he began his professional career.
A graduate in Bachelors of Arts in Psychology, from University of Allahabad, Apoorva completedhis post-graduation in Masters in Management Studies from K J Somaiya Institute in Mumbai in 1994.
An avid sports enthusiast, Apoorva loves travelling and is also a voracious reader.
Apoorva is married to Vibha and has an 12 year old son, Krit.
